Location: Mountain Horticultural Crops Research and Extension Center (MHCREC). 455 Research Drive Mills River, NC 28759. Van transport to the MHCREC will be provided for the meeting.

Hotel: Holiday Inn & Suites Arden – Asheville Airport.

Includes a free shuttle from the Asheville Regional Airport (AVL), approximately 1-mile away.

A block of 50 rooms is reserved (25 king bedrooms and 25 double queen) at $123.17 per room. This rate includes breakfast and total taxes. To accommodate the travel needs of all participants, the block extends from November 12 to 16. To receive block pricing, the deadline for hotel reservations is October 21st.

For reservations, call 828-684-6000. Indicate that you are part of the NC140 Regional Rootstock Project (Group Code: TKN). A credit card number will be required to reserve a room.

Travel: The Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) is the most convenient airport in the region and is located in close proximity to the hotel and MHCREC (less than a 5-minute drive to either site).

There are two alternative airports that may have lower airfare:

Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP). A rental car would be required to travel to the greater Asheville area (~1 hour drive).

Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). Shuttles are available from CLT (~2 hour drive) to a nearby hotel (Clairion Inn – Asheville Airport). There are 5 shuttles throughout the day - $85 per traveler (one-way). See

Registration:  The registration fee for the meeting this year is $165.00.  This includes lunch on Wednesday and Thursday and dinner on Thursday evening, transportation, refreshments and web page support.  For those that may be interested in the aquaculture survey subcommittee, please contact Greg Reighard ( or Wes Autio ( to express interest and discuss options and scheduling.

Graduate Students

There is no surcharge to support graduate travel to this meeting by recommendation of the administration. However, we will have an opportunity for graduate student presentations (12-15 min each), for those interested we need a notice of interest and title by October 15.  Because there is limited time available for these presentations, we highly encourage presentations related to rootstock research or interests of NC-140, and may need to be selective based on interest.

General Agenda:  Please review at your convenience and let Mike know if there are corrections or additions that need to be made.
