Schedule and Registration Form for the 1998 NC-140 meetings

We are happy to host the annual NC-140 meeting in Hood River, OR at the Hood River Inn and are looking forward to your participation. The following is a proposed general schedule for the meeting:

16 November

• Fly into Portland airport and shuttle to Corvallis, OR. Stay at the Ramada Inn.
• 7 pm Group dinner with NE-183 participants

17 November

• Breakfast on own
• 7:30 am Pick-up at the Ramada Inn for the tour of the nurseries
• 9:00-noon Meadowlake Nursery
• noon-1:00 Box lunch
• 1:30-4:00 pm Treco Nursery
• 5:30 pm Drop-off departing NE-183 participants at the Shilo Inn, Portland airport
• 6 pm Pick-up NC-140 participants at the Portland airport
• 7:30 pm Arrive in Hood River, lodging at the Hood River Inn
• Dinner on own

18 November

• Breakfast on own
• 8 am - noon Introductions
• NC-140 business meeting at the Hood River Inn

19 November

Additional relevant information:

Shuttle from the Portland airport:

• If you are planning to participate in the nursery tour on 17 November, you will have take a shuttle from the airport to Corvallis on 16 November. Participants are to make their own reservations for the shuttle service from Portland to Corvallis (Anthony's Limousine Service (541-752-7831) The cost is $35.00 one way. The service departs Portland airport at 7 am and leaves every two hours until 11 pm. The drop off in Corvallis is at the Ramada Inn. We encourage you to make reservations at least one week before your departure.

Transportation to Hood River from Portland airport:

• We will make only one pick up at the Portland airport at 6 pm on 17 November. Those who do not arrive in time for this pick-up will have to rent a car in Portland to get to Hood River. There is no shuttle service to Hood River. Please complete the appropriate section on the registration form so that we know whether to pick you up at the Portland airport.

Transportation during the meeting:

• We will provide transportation for the tours on the 19 and 20 November. If you wish to participate in the optional tour on 21 November there will be an additional fee charged for that tour to cover the costs of the transportation.

Lodging and Meals:

• If you are planning to participate in the nursery tour on 17 November you will have to arrive in Corvallis on 16 November and stay at the Ramada Inn. Rooms are being held there until 27 October. To make a reservation, call 541-753-9151 and say you are with the Horticulture NE-183/NC-140 group. After the 27th, reservations are based on availability. Singles are $65.00/night and $75.00 for doubles.
• The NC-140 meeting will be held at the Hood River Inn in Hood River. Make your reservations by calling ______________. Rooms are being held under the name of NE-183/NC-140. Rooms will be released after 27 October, therefore make your reservations before this date to ensure that you will have accommodations. The cost will be $54.00/single or double.
• On 16 November, there will be a dinner with the NE-183 group in Corvallis at the Ramada Inn. The cost will add an additional $18.00 to your registration fee. A box lunch will be provided for the 17 November tour and will cost you an additional $6.50 (which is factored into the NE-183 registration fee but not the NC-140 registration costs.)
• Coffee and tea will be available during the meeting. Lunch will be provided on 18 November as well as dinner on 19 November. All other meals are on your own.

• Made room reservation by 27 October at the Ramada Inn in Corvallis (541-753-9151) if you plan on participating on the nursery tour- rooms held under NE183/NC140.
• Made room reservation by 27 October at the Hood River Inn (___________)- rooms held under NE183/NC140.
• Filled in special meal considerations at the bottom of the registration form.
• Sent in registration fee, $95.00 plus additional fees if you plan on attending the group dinner with the NE-183 group in Corvallis on 16 November ($18.50) and the nursery tour on 17 November ($6.50). The check should be made payable to the Agricultural Research Foundation.
